There's been a bit of confusion over the Old Chef's Table, recently opened on Windward Parkway in Alpharetta. "I've had people ask if we sell kitchen equipment," said owner Eddice Quinn with a laugh. "They're not quite sure we're a restaurant." Old Chef's Table is, in fact, an eatery, with a menu that reflects an old-fashioned cooking style. Sauces, dressing, even the mayonnaise, are made on the premises. |

A diner might see beef bourguignon as a special at Old Chef's Table. The small restaurant concentrates on a few specials daily.
Greek salad includes feta cheese and olives and comes with chicken if desired.

The ovens turn out French baguettes and flaky croissants that serve as the basis for the sandwich menu. Each day, the chefs turn out a short list of specials created with the day's freshest ingredients. Quinn and her family have been in the restaurant business for 17 years and have taken the best dishes of their other ventures to come up with the menu. All items are available as boxed lunches, trays and platters. Bread and beyond The bread is the beginning of the Old Chef's extensive hot and cold sandwich menu. Pile a baguette or a croissant high with turkey, roast beef, ham, chicken salad or veggies. On the hot side, there are Reubens, chicken salad, avocado or pesto grilled chicken and the most popular a sirloin cheese steak topped with grilled onions and mushrooms. Pair a sandwich with soup or salad or lighten up with one of the entree-sized green bowls. There are four constants on the list of main dishes: chicken tenders, eggplant Parmesan, chicken Parmesan and spaghetti and meatballs. There are three additional entrees that, depending on the day, might be fried shrimp, chicken pot pie, pork tenderloin, beef short ribs, crab cakes or chicken enchiladas. "Our place is pretty small we only seat about 53," said manager T.J. Nguyen. "We can't do all the entrees all the time, and this way, they're fresher and prepared faster." Almost all the desserts are also made on the premises, so save room for bread pudding, tiramisu, Nutella crepes, cookies and brownies. Kids get their own choices, including macaroni and cheese, chicken tenders, grilled cheese and spaghetti. From the fountain The soft drink bar serves up a range of sodas, teas, and coffees. |
